I went to a customer recently, and their I-Mac had a ransomware, but we are now in the throws of rebuilding it.

Interesting fix for this one, but looks like Apple fixed some thing's and broke others so they now fixed that, wonder what they will break next :)

So first thing is RANSOMWARE - there is a lot of this about.  Be careful on what you click on and what you open, 

Phone call Scams,  This is when they try and get on your computer so they can data-mine and grab details from your files or use locks to ransomware you into paying for them to unlock it.

For the small business owners, Automated phone calls saying they are the HMRC, They are not!

So I have not blogged in a while! ,  trying to learn more!

So on this roller coaster ride called life.  ups and downs, So I hope to split the blog soon.

One will be Ian's Blog, and this one will be I.P. Computer Consultants.

So today, I had a call from Peter (Heavy foreign accent) from BT about my Internet connection!

Ha ha ha, I said didn't you pick on the wrong person today, to which he hung up!  Muppet!

Didn't want to hang around and get told! he was calling from 02781954201

If you get calls like this, Just say you need to get your I.T. Consultant to speak to them! then call me!

JUNE ! and SUMMER IS HERE !

Summer is here !

Well , summer has arrived ! at last and for how long ? only time will tell ...

This month , from the business point of view ... I have seen a increase in viruses in emails , but all being quarantined,  It seems to go in waves,  so some days 2 or 3  then another day 43 , Friday's  seem to be particularly popular,   I have also had a new one to me webbrowserpassview exploit.

brings a range of other pups (Potentially Unwanted Programs).  but I got rid of it. AV had been removed by person unknown. but now sorted. !

The other topic I want to touch on this month is Backup !

Backup is so important ! especially with so much ransomware about !  so If you need help with a backup solution, why not give myself (Ian)  at I.P.Computer Consultants a call or drop me an email ian@ipcc-uk.co.uk  

I hope to in the near future split the blog one to be for I.P. Computer Consultants and One for me !

but at the moment they are together . 

On the home front ! I had a task that I had not done before , Changing the hinges on a toilet seat.

this was harder than I thought , but now have soft close , which is cool.  

May already ! Where has the time gone ?

This month and last month  has already been quite a challenge ! Mainly with the start of ransomware  raising its ugly head.   

This time it was called "Locky" but this was a variant of  "Locky"   I had to use a number of tools to remove this !  

But what really saved the day was the daily backups that I had implemented for the customer to do !

Though this did also have a trojan in the form of an x-rdp-x trojan.

March - Onwards and upwards

Well this month is going so quick !

I started to ramp up the selling this month.   I am still on the look-out for Open-Source software ..

I am currently looking into a Customer Relationship Management software,  And  A Linux version of the Small Business Server, as Microsoft said goodbye to that product a few years ago.  though in my opinion this was the wrong . 

After 9 years in business, I am still learning something new everyday. And sometimes surprised on how things go.

On the personal front, I am so proud of my daughter getting  good grades for her recent projects

 

FEBRUARY 2017

Well already half way through February.... 

On the 2nd of February I.P. Computer Consultants turned 9 Years old.

So many changes over the years. I still think I learn something new everyday.

But firstly, I would like to thank all my customers , who have supported me through the years and my family for the support, especially My Dad and my Children...

I cannot believe how quick this year is going. Have been working on some Interesting issues with my customers... One that I fixed , but could not understand the reason why !

The customer had a Windows 7 Pro Machine and it lost the USB Host controller driver , but yet all the USB's were working ... but had a yellow triangle on the PC icon in devices and printers.

Reinstalled the driver from the website, but cannot understand how that would disappear.....

But at least the outcome was success....

 

 

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

2017

I have not blogged for a while , and we are already in 2017 !!! , So I would like to wish all my Customers, Family and friends, Thank you for your support in 2016 , had some challenges this year.

From the most major one,  Ransomware spending 6 days rebuilding the system,  to Exchange 2010 sp3 for office 2016, where the program says 15 mins ... yes 6 hours later ....

So to my customer I look forward to supporting you in 2017 !

I'm researching some alternative Open source products , and hope to bring some of these online. 

Personally, had some major changes in my life, over the past year! Which has been hard, But as Billy Ocean says in his song " When the going gets tough ! The tough get going !!  and that is my battle cry for 2017 !  

To all my Family and friends , that have been there for me , I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

2017  " Onwards and Upwards"  so I saw  the New year in with Friends Jo and Phil and their friends Dino and Riina, Playing some great games.
